Rhodium Group is recruiting a Research Analyst to join the firm's China Corporate Advisory team. Preferred location is Rhodium's New York office.
Position Description
Rhodium Group is looking for an entrepreneurial and talented Research Analyst (Level 1 or Level 2) to join our world-class team of economists, policy and geopolitical analysts, researchers, and data engineers. The analyst will support the China Corporate Advisory team's research on China's economy and policy dynamics, US-, EU- and G7-China relations, technology competition, and other China-related global trends of strategic interest to our corporate clients.Position Responsibilities

  • Provide research support for client deliverables, including research notes, briefing decks, and email alerts.
  • Provide research and writing support for longer-form client projects.
  • Conduct regular tracking of news and policy developments of interest to clients.
  • Provide research support for business development activities.
  • Contribute to the firm's knowledge base on issues related to China's economy and policy environment, US-China and EU-China dynamics, global trends relating to China, and sectoral/topical issues of interest to corporate clients.
Qualifications
Competitive candidates will have the following qualifications:
  • A master's degree in international economics, international affairs, China/Asia studies, political science, law, or other relevant fields; or a bachelor's degree in similar fields plus at least two years of professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of China's economy, China-world trade and investment trends, as well as geopolitical dynamics, technology competition, and regulatory trends influencing China's economic engagement with the world.
  • Excellent research and data analysis skills, with the ability to prepare clear and accurate reports of research results and synthesize policy developments and economic data into succinct and compelling stories.
  • Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and concisely through memos, reports, briefings, and other deliverables.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity for self-directed work. The candidate should be capable of handling multiple time-sensitive projects at once and independently producing client-ready, polished outputs.
  • Near native-level English writing and speaking skills, as well as high degree of reading proficiency in Chinese (including the ability to quickly read, summarize, and extract key findings and nuance from Chinese-language newspaper articles and policy documents).
  • Strong proficiency with Excel for data analysis and visualization.
  • Work authorization in the United States required.

The following qualifications are a strong plus:
  • 1-2 years of professional experience conducting research on China for corporate or government decisionmakers, inclusive of internship experience.
  • Experience with economic and commercial databases, including CEIC, WIND, and Bloomberg Terminal.
  • Demonstrated research experience in Chinese technology policy or US-China technology relations.
Location and Travel Requirements
  • The preferred location for this role is New York.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel (<5%).

Rhodium Group compensates based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our range may also be determined by factors including, but not limited to, your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as geographic location, performance, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, internal equity, alignment with market data, and business or organizational needs. Typically, a Research Analyst (Level 1 or Level 2) joins at an annualized salary between $88,683 and $93,117, with a 15% bonus target based on a combination of company and individual performance.About Rhodium Group
