IT Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

Install, configure, and support NKC’s local area network and Internet systems.  Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. May monitor and test Web site performance to ensure Web sites operate correctly and without interruption.  May supervise computer user support specialists and computer network support specialists. May administer network security measures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Work independently on project tasks assigned including;

·         Desktop Support for small group

·         Server Build outs / Maintenance

·         Backup Maintenance

·         Server Build outs / Maintenance  (Windows Server 2003 ~ 2012)

·         DNS / Certificate Maintenance

·         SonicWALL Maintenance

·         Thorough understanding of Windows  Preferably experience with Server 2003 & 2008

·         Good understanding of Backup concepts Preferably experience with Backup Exec

·         Good understanding of Windows Servers            Preferably experience with Server 2003 &  2008 and Active Directory

·         Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, PPTP SSL-VPN

·         Good understanding of Networking concepts  (Preferably experience with SonicWALL)

·         Internal user support; Candidate must be experienced in the repair of pc’s.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

·         1- year of experience

·         Strong Communication skills, both oral and written

·         Facilitation skills

·         Analytical thinking (problem-solving)

·         MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

·         (Optional) MS Project MS Visio or similar product for process flow

·         Windows Server

·         Networking, LAN, WAN, and Wireless

·         Basic Database Maintenance

·         Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related degree, or equivalent experience

·         One to three years of experience in an IT field

·         A+ and Network+ certificates preferred
