Server

SUMMARY

The Server occupies one of the most integral functions in the restaurant. The Server sets the tone and cadence of the experience. Through you, the guests obtain the comfort necessary to relax, enjoy and try new concepts or ingredients. You are responsible for full menu knowledge, suggesting menu items and executing the best guest experience possible. Our dining room, team and our patrons thrive when you use your amazing personality, skills, and knowledge to provide a one-of-a-kind dining experience for a diversity of guests with varying levels of health, wellness, and culinary knowledge and interests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Understand HA’s vision of living a dynamic healthy lifestyle through whole foods nutrition.
• Interested in working in a collaborative and evolving conceptual service environment. 
• Partners with server assistants, other servers, food runners and hosts to provide seamless service to the entire dining room.
• Understanding of allergens to meet the special needs of our guests.
• Be willing to think on your feet and creatively resolve customer issues.
• Thoroughly understands our signature cocktails and bar menu offerings. Participates in tastings. Understands our coffee and juice program with the ability to engage and educate.
• Understands the “story” of our menus and concept. Understands or is willing to learn our alternative ingredients and superfoods.
• Is not afraid to ask questions.
• Is not afraid to ask for help when it will elevate the guest's experience or provide harmony to your station and dining room.
• Check guests' identification to ensure they are of legal drinking age.
• Keep an eye on patron intoxication levels and respond appropriately. 
• Provide excellent customer experience and build a rapport with clientele.
• Handle card and cash transactions and be responsible for reconciliation.
• Enter drink or food orders accurately and at once into POS.  
• Follow our steps of service and upsell whenever possible.
• Ensure that FIFO, proper labeling, and all standards set forth by HA and local health department are followed.
• Assure that your station is continually restocked and replenished. 
• Ensure the cleanliness of the dining area (counters, tables, equipment, and floors) is ongoing throughout the shift.
• Inform the kitchen in a prompt fashion when prepped items will be needed. 
• Completes cleaning according to Daily and Weekly schedules.
• At the end of your shift, follow the "Close to Open" guideline. Ensure that everything per your closing checklist is completed.
• Notify management of any comments, suggestions, or complaints from any guests. 

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

The Server must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to demonstrate they can perform the essential functions of the job, along with the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Excellent communication skills, with a polished floor presence, appearance, and professional demeanor.
• Experience in high volume cash and credit card handling. 
• Must be reliable, responsible, honest, organized, and independent.

• Dependable, strong work ethic, a sense of urgency, and commitment to excellence. 
• Proactive, solution-oriented and self-directed. 
• Adaptable, flexible and able to prioritize and manage a heavy section. 
• Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the restaurant. 
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
• Per the Restaurant’s needs, you may be asked to perform other related duties.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED

• 1+ years server experience. 
• Hold a current food handlers certification.
• Hold a current ABC alcohol server certification.
