Summary
Baton Rouge Machine Works (a division of In-Place Machining) is seeking a First Class Millwright to join our shop team. For nearly 40 years BR Machine has been a leader in the south producing the highest quality work. We provide services in large scale machine repair, engineering and manufacturing and get the job done with great customer service and on-time delivery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Repair, rebuild, and/or service: pumps, compressors, gearboxes, turbines, blowers and mixers
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to construction equipment and machinery
  • Dismantle, repair, and reassemble equipment.
  • Align and calibrate machinery and equipment parts as required
  • Work with rotating equipment and machinery

Requirements: Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Experience and knowledge of rotating equipment and machinery
  • Proven time-management skills and task prioritization
  • 5+ years of transferrable experience
  • Read and interpret blueprints
Requirements:

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as basic math, layout functions, fractions, decimals, angles, percentages and ratios.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems using critical thinking skills
  • Ability to organize and manage priorities, meet deadlines, and expectations
  • Ability to follow through on projects from conception to completion.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:

  • Occasionally talk or hear
  • Frequently sit, use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls
  • Frequently stand and walk
  • Frequently climb ladders and stairs
  • Frequently stoop, kneel, bend or crouch
  • Frequently lift and/or move physical products (up to 50 lbs)
  • Specific vision abilities: include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. These include: forklift traffic, overhead cranes, machining, welding, fumes, airborne particles, moving of mechanical parts and moderate noise. The work is performed indoors in a shop environment.
