Production Supervisor

Production Supervisor (Shift) Position Summary:
Supervise shift plant-manufacturing operations. Responsible for all production equipment; responsible for the safety, health and welfare of all shift workers.

Essential Job Accountabilities:
1. Safety: Manage and administer safety in the Production Department. Exhibit knowledge of and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Independently identify and correct safety hazards; counsel and discipline associates for non-compliance with safety rules. Conduct regular safety training, safety topic meetings and task training. Perform area inspections and accident investigations as required. Cooperate with all external inspectors as necessary.

2. Supervise union workforce to maintain optimum production and product quality. Support, motivate and coach workforce to keep a productive shift operating.

3. Put together the weekly scheduling of hourly employees and sign off on hours worked.

4. Understand and supervise maintenance issues and report information as accurately as possible.

5. Complete all environmental forms/reports in a timely fashion to maintain compliance.

6. Effectively administer and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of collective bargaining agreement; be able to implement and issue discipline according to Keystone Code of Conduct.

7. Identify training needs and provide training and development opportunities to employees.

8. Order parts, rental equipment, or services relative to production using SAP.

Essential Job Requirements:
EDUCATION
High School Diploma required. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 years working in heavy industry required; management/supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment desired.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Effective communication skills; must be able to successfully interact in a team environment; computer skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS
Practical knowledge of cement manufacturing equipment and operations. Experience working around conveyor belts, drag conveyors, air-slides, rotary feeders, dust collectors, and fans.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to physically inspect plant properties where climbing steps, ladders and physical exertion is required. Respirator use.
