The Application Engineer Position
The Company is hiring anApplication Engineer who will be responsible for providing support for SW North America machines, and turnkey solutions. This includes creating processes, toolpaths, programs, documents, and showroom demonstrations. This role will require active communication and work with cross-functional teams. It is critical that the Application Engineer has the ability to present to customers professionally and execute their duties on-site and during travel periods abroad.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Actively troubleshoot equipment to meet or surpass statistical expectations and cycle times.
- Review tooling and fixture design concepts, utilizing software like NX, Solidworks, Mastercam, or Minitab.
- Provide both formal and informal training to customers.
- Participate in trade shows or other promotional events.
- Evaluate tooling, time studies, and fixture design concepts.
- Take part in project feasibility reviews.
- Develop and execute CNC programs based on project inputs.
- Utilize NX or Mastercam to create and verify toolpaths, ensuring paths are collision-free and meet clearance requirements.
- Validate that the manufacturing process meets or exceeds statistical specifications within the targeted cycle time.
- Troubleshoot the process and its inputs as needed, using critical thinking skills or root cause analysis. Interpret CMM reports to draw conclusions.
- Assist the training group in developing materials as necessary.
- Train a diverse range of customers, both on-site and off-site, covering equipment use, operation, and programming.

Targeted Experience, Skills, and Abilities for the Application Engineer
- 5+ years experience setting up four and five axis machining centers and CNC Programming.
- Experience with a wide range of machine tools; lathe, mill, grinding, 5-axis applications, and multi-spindle horizontal machining centers.
- Experience with robot and cell automation including PLC, networking and peripheral devices, preferred.
- A high percentage, estimated at 35% or greater, of travel is expected for this position
