PRN Counselor Technician

Gateway Rehab has an opportunity for a Counselor Technician located in our Mt. Pleasant, PA center. You will facilitate programming and assure the integrity of the therapeutic milieu. This position requires mandatory staffing coverage when necessary to provide a safe treatment environment for Gateway residents.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates discussion groups and activities.
• Monitors patient behavior.
• Conducts handbook orientation.
• Assists patients in completion of patient assessment forms.
• Assists with phone calls to family members/friends and referral sources.
• Assists with crisis intervention.
• Transports patients to meetings.
• Documents involvement with patients in progress notes.
• Collects urine and completes paperwork for drug screening as necessary.
• Provides post-discharge contacts/referrals under therapist's direction.
• Completes intake paperwork as needed.
• Attends mandatory GRC trainings and in-services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of 12-step programs and/or addictions preferred.

• High school diploma or GED

Preferred Requirements

• Some college

Other Requirements

• Pass PA Criminal Background Check.
• Obtain PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting clearances.
• Pass drug screen.
• TB Test
• Must have at least 18 months in recovery from substance dependence.
• Valid driver's license and favorable driving record required.

• Moderate mental demands to respond to patients' simultaneous requests.
