Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for the electrical testing & troubleshooting of the specialty products. This includes optimizing the current excel & access test templates & improving the test methodologies.

The QA Engineer will review failed data and provide corrective action. They will interface with engineering and manufacturing to verify & optimize quality testing and improve first pass test yields.

This will include continuous improvement of our electrical test & statistical analysis. Offering recommendations for improvement to reduce test variations.


Essential Functions

  • Perform electrical testing, and verification of results.
  • Mentor & Train QC technicians on electrical test attributes & processes.
  • Continuously improve test equipment capabilities & measurement adequacy with GR&R studies.
  • Develops new testing methods or software programs to improve test methodologies.
  • Creates and maintains quality documentation and test results per defined procedures.
  • Reviews and recommends disposition of non-conforming material through RMA process.
  • Respond to CAPA / SCAR supplier quality nonconformances & customer complaints.
  • Perform manufacturing quality audits to ensure processes are in control and test yield is adequate.
  • Assist in supplier issues and customer complaints.

Core Competencies

  • Network Analyzer Test Experience w/ Impedance, Normalized Insertion loss & Mode Conversion
  • Continuous improvement skills in electrical test data capture, integration & SPC statistical analysis.
  • Proficient familiarity in use of test equipment such as TDR, OTDR and LCR.
  • Strong knowledge of basic programming using visual basic, access & excel test templates.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting & resolving complex test failures.
  • Provide effective training as needed or required.
  • Ability to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Respond to shifting priorities in a cooperative manner.
  • Understanding of lab testing methodology, process, and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word, and customized programs.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with team members, customers & suppliers.

  • Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision.

Work Environment
This position works in an office environment, sitting for extended periods of time, working at a desk.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position is not responsible for the oversight or performance management of other employees.

Travel

No travel is planned for this role.

Physical Demand

  • Finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination for operation of office equipment, including PC.
  • Sitting and standing for periods of time, working at a desk in both office and lab environment.
  • Light lifting, carrying of files and supplies, ability to move, or lift >30 lbs. of materials.
  • Ability to speak and hear customers, suppliers, and other employees via phone or in person.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Electrical Engineering) or related 5+ years of electrical test experience.
  • Professional accreditation by ASQ in Quality Engineering, Management or Auditing preferred.
  • Experience with ISO9001 quality systems.
  • 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment; prior experience in continuous process desired.
  • Strong working knowledge of performance measurement and monitoring methods required.
