The Graduate Assistant for Campus Ministry and Service helps to carry out various activities, focusing on being a liaison with students and getting more student involvement in campus ministry, civic engagement and social justice awareness programs. This student-to-student relationship helps students to be involved at a deeper level. The Graduate Assistant will meet weekly with supervisor to discuss goals, challenges, successes, values, and reflect on experiences and development of skills; engage in a collaborative style of leadership giving feedback and sharing ideas with one another; participate in an end of year self-assessment and goal setting process with supervisor; and suggest/initiate new program possibilities for the Office of Campus Ministry and Services.


Essential functions include but are not limited to:

1. Bonner Leaders Program

a. Being a liaison for the Bonner Leaders Program among the Bonner Office, Bonner Leaders and Site Supervisors by making periodic phone calls, following up with Site Supervisors, assisting
Leaders handling challenges at their site.

b. Working with the director to implement the Common Commitments, Bonner Developmental Model and skill sets heavily into the Bonner Leaders program.

c. Help the director creatively address the needs and issues of Bonner Leaders and Site Supervisors.

d. Lead workshops and exercises at Bonner meetings, retreats, and other activities.

e. Recruit Bonner Leaders to attend conferences and meetings sponsored by the Bonner Foundation.

f. Assists in planning and development of orientation and training activities, manages monthly paperwork, provides leadership to campus-wide service and leadership programs.

g. In addition, the GA will serve as a member of the Leadership Team, assist in the use of BWBRS, MobileServe, and updating publications.

2. Civic Engagement

a. Assist in scheduling community service and volunteer events for the entire NDMU community.

b. Assist in coordinating transportation: waivers, drivers, evaluations.

c. Actively participate in the coordination and implementation of campus wide service experiences.

3. Mission & Campus Ministry

a. Actively engage in research and design deliverables connected to NDMU's Laudato Si' commitment to sustainability and social justice including drafting reports and developing programming.

b. Assist in the design, coordination and recruitment for all campus ministry events, particularly those co-sponsored by student identity-based affinity groups such as the Black Student Union,
Muslim Student Association, Spectrum (LGBTQ+).

4. The GA is expected to be an integrated member of the NDMU campus community by participating actively in campus wide meetings, events and celebrations.

5. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Knowledge: Bachelor's degree required. Must be currently enrolled in a graduate studies program at NDMU or be eligible for admission into a graduate studies program.
  • Experience: One to two years student programming experience at undergraduate level.
  • Skills: Requires administrative, supervisory, and mentoring skills and the ability to effective manage crisis. Must be able to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

This is a 12 month position that includes tuition remission and a stipend.
