Position location: Onsite in Sarasota Florida

Headquartered in Augusta, Georgia with distribution spanning the globe, Club Car is pleased to announce the following career opportunity at our Vehicle Connectivity Engineering facility Sarasota, Florida.

The Engineering Associate is responsible for supporting the Connectivity Product Development team in a variety of tasks throughout the product development lifecycle. Specifically, we are seeking a high-energy Engineer Technician with an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for success. The individual selected will be responsible for assisting in the development, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of several vehicle level connectivity products for the largest small electric vehicle manufacturer in the world. Ideal candidates will have a hunger for working with new technologies and a desire to learn new skills to bring value to the project teams being supported. This individual will be a key contributor in growing our business by assisting project teams to ensure successful project implementation. This position offers the opportunity to be involved in next generation digital products from concept to production and will require you to apply both analytical and hands-on skills.

This position will directly support the Engineering development team in Sarasota and will also interface with extended team members in Austin, TX, Evans, GA, and Bangalore, India.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support the bring up and troubleshooting of digital connectivity hardware and IoT products
  • Become familiar with electrical vehicle control systems and safety features.
  • Assist in scheduling and tracking of laboratory tests and analyze test data.
  • Provide assistance to both electronic design and software design Engineers along with other team members.
  • Develop and/or update electrical purchased part engineering drawings and standards.
  • Assist teams in meeting project schedules by performing product functional testing.
  • Assist in field testing of connectivity products at local courses and customer locations as needed.
  • Provide engineering support to Product Management and/or technical support teams.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot test vehicles both at customer locations and Club Car facility.
  • Define requirements for electronics test lab including supplies, equipment, and operation.
  • Effectively meet the needs of internal and external customers.

MINIMUM YEARS OF ELECTRICAL TEST/DESIGN EXPERIENCE NECESSARY: 3-5 years

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Associates Degree in “Electrical Engineering Technology”, “Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology”, or related electrical education is preferred.

Essential Skills or Knowledge:

  • Soldering and board rework experience.
  • Use of lab equipment. O-scope an absolute must
  • Experience making harnesses/cables.
  • Experience working with EMC chambers and equipment.
  • Experience with emulators/programmers for flashing boards.
  • Experience setting up thermal tests.
  • Basic trouble-shooting skills such as measuring voltage, current, capacitance, inductance.
  • Ability to read data sheets and timing diagrams.
  • Basic electronic component knowledge. i.e., FETs, BJTs, logic gates AND/OR/Flip-Flops/Latches. Etc.
  • Experience with HyperTerminal or other terminal emulation programs like Tera Term.
  • Competency in Microsoft products including Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be tenacious with quality and customer service orientation.
  • Basic experience with 3D-CAD applications such as ProE is a plus (but is not required).
