POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant Trainer (Trainer) provides training and education for support staff, medical assistants and assists with provider onboarding and training. This position will support and identify opportunities for continuous improvement throughout the clinical team. Models Service Excellence at all times and strives to implement processes and protocols that eliminate waste.
DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
- Oversee, facilitate and ensure staff education and adherence to regulatory requirements (NCQA, PCMH, OSHA and CLIA).
- Strategically work with all departments to increase knowledge and efficiency of clinical teams.
- FHC Employee Engagement: participates in organizational events within the community and Family Health Center.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops: monthly staff meetings, clinical committees.
- Collaborate with the EDCO, Clinical Operations Manager, and MA Supervisor to create training program content, evaluation metrics, and feedback processes, for students and new hires.
- Collaborate with the EDCO, Clinical Operations Manager, and MA Supervisor to create continuing education opportunities for the clinical team.
- Create orientation schedule, participate in buddy lunches, give tour of facilities, obtain supplies, prep orientation information and schedule 2 week evaluations and 30/60/90 reviews.
- Schedule, organize, and facilitate on-going skills assessments for staff.
- Evaluate and certify staff competencies, including developing training/improvement plans when needed.
- MA trainer spends a minimum of 12 hours/week functioning in the MA role with expectations to increase these hours based on operational need.
- Act as a preceptor as needed.
- Act as Leader on Call for the minimum of amount of shifts required by organization.

- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use fine motor, hearing, and visual skills.
- The employee is frequently required to stand or sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; or stoop. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to learn and efficiently utilize electronic health records (EHRs). EPIC experience preferred.
- Must have adequate transportation to be able to commute to any of the Family Health Center sites.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
- Associates Degree. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Healthcare leadership or a closely related field, 1-2 years, experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience maybe considered. Clinical experience preferred.
- RMA/CMA required.
- CPR/AED Certification, required.
