Location: Northwest Houston, Texas
$22-$32/hour depending on experience

Manual Machinist Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will have expertise in operating manual engine lathes and be proficient in machining valve components from various materials, including stainless steel alloys, chrome, alloy 20, monel, Inconel, Hastelloy, and A105/LF2.

Machinist Responsibilities:

  • The Manual Machinist will set up and operate manual engine lathes to manufacture valve components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • The Horizontal boring mill Machinist will be responsible for operating, setting up, and editing programs for CNC HBM mills
  • The VTL Machinist will Vertical turning lathes (VTL) are machines that orient the spindle in the vertical plane in a fixed position. The workpiece then spins, moving up and down to put it in line with the cutting head.
  • All roles will demand strong blueprint reading skills, proficiency in program editing, and a comprehensive understanding of machine settings
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for machining operations.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments to ensure components meet tight tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform routine maintenance on machines.

Machinist Qualifications:

  • Proven experience of 3+ years as a Machinist, preferably in a manufacturing environment related to the petrochemical industry.
  • Proficiency in operating manual engine lathes, Horizontal boring mill, and or Vertical turret lathe machining equipment.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, including cutting speeds, feeds, and tool selection.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with a variety of materials, including stainless steel alloys, chrome, alloy 20, monel, Inconel, Hastelloy, and a105/LF2.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high quality work.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Working Hours:

This is a fulltime position with 40+ hour work weeks. Typical hours are 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
