    Job Description

    The Architectural Project Manager is responsible for designing and managing regional and international hospitality/gaming architecture projects in accordance with Wynn Design & Development and Wynn Resorts program criteria. This position provides vision and direction to a team of architects and designers and works closely with the Construction, Design, Purchasing, Accounting and Legal Departments to insure technical, operational, legal and regulatory compliance with all designs and documents. The Architectural Project Manager is also responsible for professionally managing the relationships with external firms that form the multi-disciplinary team for planning, design and construction.

    WDD team members are required, on a continual basis to:

    • Contribute to a safe work environment, through compliance with established safety guidelines, identifying potential safety hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate person for proper resolution.
    • Maintain a professional and ethical department, company and community reputation and comply with all of the Company’s policies and procedures.
    • At all times, demonstrate integrity and honesty in recording all work and project time.
    • Demonstrate the expected behaviors and upholds the established values of Wynn Resorts.
    • Mentor and provide professional guidance to less senior staff.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership to multiple external consultants managing projects in several states and regions: from concept planning phase through design development and construction documents for construction and permitting agencies.
    • Conduct due diligence research and coordinate investigative reports required for development of large-scale projects.
    • Develop and manage planning schedules.
    • Organize project teams including scope and fee solicitation and oversee their activities as necessary.
    • Work closely with Directors, Vice Presidents and Architects to execute projects to the highest quality, on time, on budget and in a collaborative environment.
    • Assist with the overall design quality of projects and collaborate within the studio to promote a strong design culture.
    • Maintain contact with operations regarding design and strategic challenges.
    • Troubleshoot design delays and oversee design schedule.
    • Review and approve design plans and provide design direction and periodic review of all projects to ensure quality standards and design requirements are met.
    • Serve as mentor, positive role model for architectural team.
    • Ensure compliance with the local building codes/agencies and promote sound planning and design principles.
    • Serve as an integral part of the leadership team and must be an active participant in project management and development.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Required:

    • Undergraduate degree in Architecture from an accredited university or college
    • Any person licensed as an Architect in another state must become licensed as an Architect in Nevada within six (6) months following the date of appointment as a condition of employment.
    • 10 years’ experience as lead architect in hospitality/resort/hotel design with a world-class architectural firm.
    • Minimum 7 years’ experience leading a team/performance management.

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree in Architecture
    • International business and design experience
    • LEED or Green Globe experience

    SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Self-motivation to inspire the work, creativity, initiative and dedication of consultant team and co-workers.
    • Ability to formulate project feasibility studies, forecasts, program complex projects and develop conceptual designs.
    • History of fostering and maintaining positive, trusting business relationship with peers.
    • Exquisite attention to detail.
    • Demonstrated ethical and moral integrity.
    • Strong team management skills with an entrepreneurial style and approach to work.
    • Ability to manage work and design team effectively and efficiently to meet critical deadlines.
    • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability with change.
    • Strong negotiation and conflict/problem resolution skills.
    • Advanced computer literacy in architecture software and Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with operations, consultant design and engineering professionals, and representatives of various agencies.
    • Large scale project experience and leadership.
    • Ability to understand, read and apply project financials: fees, budgets, labor hours and expenses.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally.
    • Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality, handling sensitive information concerning both the Company and its projects.
    • Must be adept at multi-tasking and utilizing exceptional organizational skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
    • Must be self-motivated, self-directed, and possess strong leadership qualities.
    • Must have an excellent personal presentation and possess the necessary skills and attributes to represent the qualitative character of WDD in all forms of communication and representation

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

    Ability to read, comprehend, and compose complex instructions, correspondence, and memorandum. Ability to author correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to wide-ranging audience types.

    Consistently demonstrate active listening.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple and complex instructions.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on a project site, the noise level increases too loud. When on a project site, employees are required to comply with all contractor-imposed safety procedures.

    Due to the unpredictable nature of the design industry, Employees must be able to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the studio.

    CONFLICTS OF INTEREST:

    Team members are required to uphold the company’s policies and guidelines regarding conflicts of interest. WDD team members will allocate and devote appropriate time, attention, energy, effort, concentration, ability, and talent to all tasks assigned, such that the team member’s contributions to the work of Wynn Design & Development not only meet all expected deadlines but result in resort products that stand at the forefront of international hospitality and gaming experience. As a salaried exempt team member of Wynn Design & Development, freelance consulting services, works-for-hire, or any outside services performed for compensation are dilutive to the responsibilities defined herein and are not permitted. Product design and licensing agreements are permitted but efforts required to support such business arrangements must not be performed during business hours and product may not be specified or sold to Wynn Resorts or its affiliates.
