Heavy Equipment Operator - Earthwork

Len's Excavating "LEI" is searching for an applicant to join our team as an Earthwork Heavy Equipment Operator.  LEI is a family-owned and owner operated business serving the front range since 1968.   LEI performs medium and large-scale civil construction projects involving over-lot, foundation, compaction, demolition, final grading, utility and specialty earthwork projects.

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, and skills as follows:

1. Communicate in English.
2. Read grade stakes and understand plans—digital and hard copy.
3. 3-5 years’ experience on heavy equipment as follows:
   • Skid Steer,
   • Excavator (all types),
   • Loader,
   • Blade,
   • Dozer, and
   • Water truck.
4. 3-5 years’ experience performing tasks as follows:
   • Read and interpret grade stakes, site markings, maps, blueprints, and/or drawings for soil movement per project specifications.
   • Properly set up and utilize grade control devices within tolerance levels.
   • Mixing and compacting dirt for backfill and compaction testing.
   • Use and understand all safety requirements for excavation and trenching.
   • Convey information and receive information from supervisors and co-workers.
   • Safely operate equipment and maintain active awareness of surroundings to ensure safe distances from potential hazards such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers and/or falling objects.
   • Perform pre and post equipment checks and report equipment issues to supervisors.
   • Maintain assigned equipment and perform daily inspections to ensure compliance with operational and safety requirements including but not limited to checking fuel, oil, and/or hydraulic levels.
   • Perform basic repairs in the event field mechanic is not available.
