Position Summary
The Director Quality is responsible for all aspects of quality for Tampa Family Health Centers (TFHC). This role includes Quality Assurance, Quality Improvements, and is responsible for total Quality Management, Clinical Quality Care, adherence to State, Federal accreditation agencies regulations, patient safety and culture of safety, disease management and creating, implementing and monitoring policies and strategies to ensure TFHC quality goals are met.
Essential Duties & Functions
- Responsible for development, implementation, monitoring and analysis of appropriate methods of quality assessment/assurance and quality improvement projects as part of the QI Program; maintains the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
- Leads and directs process improvement activities that provide more efficient and streamlined workflow
- Ensures compliance with industry standard risk management guidelines overseen by regulatory agencies.
- Creates and implements audit plans; risk assessments - prepares departmental reports for the Compliance Officer, Compliance Committee, and Chief Medical Officer, as needed
- Interacts with the Compliance Committee and Legal Counsel
- Conducts quality and risk assessment activities which includes conducting field work at Health Center locations
- Creates and may conduct education programs related to compliance and risk-related topics
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising the Compliance Officer on needed actions
- Evaluates, trends and communicates quality related data and reports; present results of improvement efforts and ongoing performance measures of clinical processes within TFHC to senior leaders timely and accurately
- Responsible for timely completion of chart reviews and audits; has ownership for measurable results including HEDIS goals/expectations, patient experience, employee engagement, and quality improvement
- Resource expert for departments in area of process improvement as it relates to quality improvement activities
- Acts as the Infection Control Coordinator, ensuring infection control requirements are met
- Collaborates with senior leaders to process and monitor risk management review and investigations; responsible for investigating all issue, trends or risks factors that present potential risk to patients and staff
- Adhere to all HIPAA, OSHA and accreditation agency rules and requirements
- Ensure annual and new hire health screenings are performed
- Supervision of staff in Quality Programs Department; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with TFHC policies and applicable law; responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; coaching and annual appraisals
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications; benchmarking industry best practices; participating in professional societies; professional educational opportunities.
Required Education, Certifications, Licenses, & Training
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school, MSN preferred.
- Current and unencumbered nursing license in State of Florida
- Current BLS Certification
- Certified Infection Preventionist (CIC)
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
Required Years of Experience
- Minimum of (2) years’ experience in a primary health care setting, community health or public health nursing
- Minimum (2) years’ experience as a supervisor in a primary health care setting
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
- Proficient in the use of an electronic health records system and applicable software applications, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Demonstrated presentation skills.
- Reasoning ability: able to effectively define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical diagnostic and procedural terminology
- Knowledge of Stated and Federal regulations and requirements related to patient care
