Application Developer

Job Profile:

As an Application Developer, you will play a crucial role as part of an existing team in designing, developing, and maintaining applications critical to national security. We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in application development, specifically with SharePoint and within classified information systems like the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS).

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications on the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) platform.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, identify needs, and translate them into technical specifications.
• Develop scalable and efficient solutions to meet the NSC's operational requirements while ensuring compliance with security and privacy regulations.
• Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support as needed.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in application development and security.
• Document software designs, code, and processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintain system integrity.
• Work closely with other members of the NSC team to integrate applications with existing systems and services.
• Adhere to established development methodologies, quality standards, and project timelines.

Basic Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in applications development, with a focus on SharePoint.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++.
• Experience working in JWICS or other classified systems.
• Strong understanding of agile software development lifecycle methodologies and practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with web application development frameworks such as Spring Boot, Django, or Flask.
• Familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Knowledge of database management systems (SQL, NoSQL).
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Previous experience working in government or national security environments.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Education:

• BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Location: Washington, DC (On-site at the National Security Council)

Clearance: Top Secret (TS) Clearance required
