Description of Duties:

The successful candidate will report to Program Managers and be responsible for leading a multi-disciplined team to design, develop, manufacture and test Environmental Control & Life Support System (ECLSS) subsystems for a variety of technical space and terrestrial applications. Programs include NASA and commercial space programs that will return humans to the lunar surface and expand our presence in low earth orbit. These systems will provide a safe crew living and working environment for astronauts.

This candidate will oversee the design, analysis and manufacture of hardware. Additionally, they will coordinate testing to verify performance, balance schedule and budget and be the main point of contact and subject matter expert for subsystems. This mission is to deliver engineered solutions that meet or exceed internal and external customer requirements within the timeframe promised.

  • Oversee the design, analysis and manufacture of hardware high-reliability, radiation-hard spaceflight hardware for power, data acquisition, control, and telemetry.
  • Leads subcontractor (subK)teams in pursuit of excellence in project performance (cost, schedule and technical):
    • Provides business, technical and/or strategic leadership on team projects
    • Coordinates staffing with personnel that have the essential skills and experience
    • Regularly monitors cost, schedule and technical status of all team projects
    • Ultimately responsible for financial, schedule and technical performance of subK projects
  • Coordinate with Engineering in order to facilitate integration of engineering deliverables with those developed by subKs
  • Execute independent projects that are part of larger programs while achieving the technical scope on budget and on schedule
  • Program Management experience in a production environment (aerospace, aviation, or medical industry preferred)
  • Interface with customers and suppliers to present technical and programmatic progress and as well as challenges that must be overcome

    Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams, design engineers, line management, and project management.
    • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and spoken form. Skill in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive work relationships; have creativity, flexibility and resourcefulness; have discriminating judgment, tact and sense of humor
    • Ability to serve as project lead on projects. Ideally, but not required, skills in refining project budgeting and forecasting

    Qualifications:

    • An ABET accredited bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a production environment
    • Ability to serve as project lead on projects; Ideally, but not required, skills in project budgeting and forecasting
    • Strong MS PowerPoint and Excel Skills (V-lookup, H-lookup, pivot tables, advanced formulas, charting, etc.)
    • Detail oriented and a self-starter with strong written, including executive level presentations, and oral communication skill
    • Ability and willingness to travel at a minimum of 2 weeks per year
    • US Citizen or US permanent resident

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Program Management experience in a production environment (aerospace, aviation, or medical industry preferred).
  • Experience with change management and Product Lifecycle Management
