Job Summary: The Lab Technician reports directly to the Process Engineer and is responsible for maintaining all chemical processing baths through wet analysis, followed by any chemical addition as needed. Responsibilities also include cross sections, reports, data entry, maintaining lab chemistry, lab cleanliness, safety regulations, and following all rules and policies set forth by Harbor Electronics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records, reports and files organized in the computer system and lab X- section and reports
- Produce all required reports to comply with customer requirements
- Cross section mounting, grinding, and evaluation of samples
- Chemical analysis and data entry for each plating line
- Cross section analysis and reports- use microscope and filing system
- Control depth analysis and reports
- Solder float test, evaluations and reports
- Use TruChem computer system & software to analyze results, data entry, and record actions
- Quick response and good judgement to abnormalities of any analysis results or out of control points, accurate response and prompt action to maintain process specifications
- Use complex equipment for different lab analysis required for each chemical process
- Perform Bath Analysis/ Bath additions
- Perform chemical maintenance when needed to support manufacturing
- And other duties as assigned to support manufacturing
- Work overtime as needed
Physical Demands:
Lab technician is a physical demanding job that involves working in a chemical environment while analyzing or making chemical additions to the plating processing tanks.
- Move drums and chemical containers
- Pump out, transfer and measure different quantities of strong chemistries to perform additions or make new chemistry baths.
- Move 55 gal drums, 50 lb boxes, and 5 gal pails during a regular working day
- Frequent lifting, walking, pushing and pulling is required in order to perform the job efficiently.
- Use respirator face shields and other safety equipment, during the workday when performing additions of strong chemicals.
- Use of a microscope when performing x section and producing reports
Education and/or Experience:
- Basic chemistry knowledge
- Previous lab experience preferred but not required
- High school diploma preferred but no required
- Good communication skills.
- Professional attitude and approach towards job duties and personnel
- Read, write and speak English
