Summary: The Loan Account Specialist is responsible for performing activities related to loan accounting of the Bank’s portfolio of loans serviced, including review of commercial and consumer loan documents, booking loans to the bank’s core system, reconciling to general ledger, performing loan account transaction research, resolving discrepancies, ensuring the quality review of daily file maintenance and making corrections as needed. Responsibilities also include cross training in several functions of Loan Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up customers and book system, commercial and consumer borrowers and loans, guarantors, facilities, and fees to the bank’s core account system in accordance with the loan agreement and internal processes and procedures.
- Perform loan account transaction research, quality maintenance and resolve discrepancies.
- Perform review of daily file maintenance reports and make corrections as needed.
- Reconcile and research loan related general ledger accounts.
- Process funding requests in accordance with the loan agreement; perform due diligence to ensure funding is within guidelines and availability is sufficient.
- Process investor reporting, remittances and month end reconcilements on participated loans.
- Post payments manually when applicable.
- Validate loan and credit portfolio codes applicable to each approved loan to ensure accurate entry to the loan system.
- Scan and index loan documents related to maintenance requests to the bank’s image system.
- Escalate critical issues to management, the business line and/or administrative personnel.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with loan policy, regulatory guidelines, established risk controls, standards, procedures and forms.
Secondary Duties – Responsibilities may consist of one or more of the following duties if assigned by manager in certain circumstances.
- Perform quality control review of data input to the loan system, comparing to the loan agreement/note and loan approval, and record errors as applicable for management reporting.
- Set up exceptions in collateral tracking system and review documents received for clearing exceptions to ensure it fulfils the requirement tracked and update the tracking system.

- SBA 1502 Reporting
- Monitor flood report and force place insurance as needed.
- Assist with special projects as requested.
