SUMMARY:

In the Supplier Quality Technician role you will be responsible for quality inspection of incoming materials assigned for review to the Quality Assurance Department. This requires a substantial level of authority, responsibility, independent judgment, impartiality, people skills, and technical know-how in support of verifying business operations and /or that Plasma-Therm’s products comply with specified requirements.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Logs all inspected and reviewed material into the ERP system with all essential details recorded in a standard and informative manner
  • Measures and validates incoming purchased parts to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Reviews incoming and returned materials for non-conformances
  • Provides daily, weekly, and monthly updates and reports to closely monitor the incoming quality of parts
  • Initiates and creates Defective Material Reports (DMR)
  • Interfaces with various departments to prioritize inspection items based on our delivery schedule, project timelines, or specialized work requirement
  • Assist with Quality Inspection Plans and adjust inspection requirements in ERP based on historic quality data and supplier performance
  • Facilitate daily MRB meetings to review current defects for corrective action distribution.
  • Completes containment of materials in WIP and inventory in the event of a quality issue or vendor recall.
  • Confers with engineering to clarify drawing requirements when drawings are incomplete or contain ambiguity.
  • Identifies errors or inadequacies in engineering documentation and submits requests to engineering requesting their correction.
  • The incumbent may be required to assemble, surface prep, clean, vacuum pack, and wrap inspected materials for inventory stock and Customer Service orders

  • Assists with Continuous Process Improvement projects
  • Uphold ISO9001 Standards
  • Specialize in receiving inspection, in-process inspection, auditing and pre-ship audits.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum three (3) years to five (5) years of experience as a quality assurance inspector or a related discipline


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of blueprints, drawings, schematics, BOMs, manufacturing documentation systems, test equipment, audits and inspections and inspection equipment
  • Ability to measure with gages, calipers, height gauge and micrometers for high accuracy on the inspection of tools and hardware
  • Must be proficient in the use of PC operation for the use of reports, procedures, data gathering, and analysis i.e. Microsoft Suites
  • Ability to communicate effectively interdepartmentally and externally with vendors
  • Working knowledge of mechanical assemblies
  • Experience with vacuum equipment technology a plus but not required
  • Able to identify improvement opportunities
  • 6 Sigma Methodology for quality improvement


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The normal work environment is an inspection area, complete with inspection surface table and gauges, tool boxes, file cabinets, etc.
  • The incumbent may be required to perform duties and interact to provide QA support in areas such as a manufacturing clean room facility, stockroom, machine shop, and laboratory
  • The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • While performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. The incumbent must be able to wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions
  • When handling vacuum-related parts and assemblies, the incumbent will be required to wear latex, nitrile, or equivalent gloves to prevent particle contamination of Machine to print parts
