Job Description

Responsible for the supervision and oversight of a UL508a Industrial Control Panel Assembly shop. Duties include managing multiple panel technicians during the assembly of custom industrial control panels from start to finish, insuring job assignments are completed on time and to company standard, maintaining tool inventory, reviewing all inventory movements associated with jobs and tasks performed by the panel shop, training technicians on any current or updated processes and monitor that all work safety standards are met. Crew Lead will also be responsible for some assembly and testing of control panels when time or scheduling allows and/or requires.


Tasks:

 

  • Oversee the assembly and testing of Industrial Control Panels from schematic wiring diagrams and bills of material
  • Loading of software programs and testing of PLC's, HMI's and VFD's
  • Use scheduling software and checklists to meet completion and shipment dates for all jobs in the Panel Shop
  • Review schematics and bills of material to ensure error free assembly by technicians
  • Oversee any equipment wiring on manufacturing floor to insure proper control panel installation and routing of conduit and wiring
  • Test, troubleshoot and diagnose control panels and/or equipment prior to shipment
  • Process all paperwork involved with jobs to complete assignments
  • Work with purchasing and vendors to maintain levels of inventory for certain parts and supplies for Panel Shop
  • Consistently review any and all processes in Panel Shop to find deficiencies and possible improvements
  • Interact with project line managers, engineers and other departments to ensure panels are built to exact specifications/needs and standards
  • May perform other duties as assigned by Production manager


Education:

 

  • Typically requires associate degree in electronics or electric technology or equivalent work experience


Experience:

 

  • Preferred - 3 to 5 years experience in electronic/electrical circuitry and assembly of control panels
  • Preferred - 3 to 5 years experience electrical wiring systems and programing various types of controllers


Equipment Operation:

 

  • Arc Flash Protective Equipment, computer, forklifts, scales, hand trucks, dollies and other equipment used in manufacturing activities


Working Conditions:

 

  • Normally indoors in a manufacturing environment which can be noisy.  It may be necessary to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions for wiring equipment when needed
  • Safety shoes and safety glasses are required.  Other personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required


Physical/Cognitive Requirements:

 

  • Required to lift objects manually or by forklift.   Also required to bend, stoop, climb ladders and pull wires.  In exercising some functions, may by required to exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs from the floor to shelves and from the shelves to floor
  • Must be able to climb stairs and to climb on and off a forklift as needed
  • The crew lead must be very accurate and possess a keen attention to detail, both in their own work and in the oversight of others work
