Position Summary
The Night Auditor is responsible for all front desk operations during the overnight shift (typically 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM) as well as the preparation and disposition of all night audit work, primarily balancing revenue and settling accounts nightly and performing bookkeeping activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the accounting department by researching and recording out of balance amounts, nightly.
- Complete end-of-day activities including posting charges to accounts, running night audit backup, and balancing and dropping receipts according to accounting department specifications.
- Batch credit cards and other payment methods, research variance and provide room rate variance reports.
- Ensure operating systems (Micros and OPERA Cloud) are balanced.
- Organize and record receipts and other financial documents by type, nightly.
- Maintain updated records of room availability and guest accounts.
- Prepare and distribute daily reports.
- Audit and reconcile all required bookkeeping.
- Print contingency lists to have a record of all guests in case of emergency.
- Perform all Front Desk Agent tasks, including responding to guest inquiries and complaints.
- Initiate and complete all processes required for end-of-day.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness, and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public.
- Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculations.
- Strong knowledge of OPERA Cloud and Micros POS preferred.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, and the public.
- Ability to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives. Supports everyone's efforts to succeed.
