Job Description

Easterseals UCP, a non-profit service provider in North Carolina & Virginia, seeks a dynamic, and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to lead our EMPOWER team. This Full-Time position offers competitive salary and comprehensive benefit package. The schedule is Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm with some Saturdays required. What You’ll Do as a Registered Nurse (RN):

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the EMPOWER/ABA Registered Nurse (RN) provides clinical supervision and training to direct service providers providing services to medically fragile consumers. The Registered Nurse (RN) assesses the consumer’s needs relative to these services. The Registered Nurse (RN) is also responsible for conducting supervisory visits, completing direct service provider skills verification, and providing Medication Administration training, Infectious Disease (previously known as Blood Borne Pathogens) training, Seizure Management and any other courses as qualified.

  • Completes initial assessment of the consumer’s personal care needs.
  • Develops a plan of care based upon the assessment of the consumer.
  • Conducts a site visit monthly and as needed to assess and re-evaluate the consumer need, modifies the
  • plan of care and conducts the direct service provider supervisory visit.
  • Monitors and trains direct service providers providing personal care services or services to medically
  • fragile consumers.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation according to established time lines.
  • Conducts Medication Administration and Infectious Disease (previously known as Blood Borne Pathogens), Seizure Management and other training sessions (PPE FIT Train the Trainer, Mask Fitting general guidelines, FA/CPR) as needed to keep staff in compliance.
  • Conduct PPE FIT questionnaire review and recommendation.
  • Complete Med Error and any other Incident Reports as identified.
  • Attends in-services/meetings as required, conducting training sessions when needed.
  • Requests and secures medication orders when cases are opened and renew every six (6) months.
  • Develop and review Medication Administration Records in Electronic Health Record or another
  • appropriate tool.
  • Provide eMAR/MAR appropriate training to staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Staff development on Health & Safety, medical equipment-based top EMPOWER/ABA such as J-tube, G-tube, etc.
  • Attend regular group or individual supervision sessions.
  • Participate in ongoing Quality Improvement activities.
  • Provide high quality customer service, serving as a positive representative for the agency.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality, manages use of PTO time (if applicable), and follows all
  • policies and procedures regarding time off.
  • Follows all Easterseals UCP Policies and Procedures.
  • Must demonstrate Easterseals UCP valued behaviors of Accountability, Commitment and Caring as
  • appropriate to position.
  • Completes required training within prescribed timeframes.
  • Performs related duties as requested or assigned by management.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in North Carolina.
  • Two years’ experience as an RN, home health experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with individuals with MH/IDD preferred.
  • Experience in a training role.
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted, state appropriate driver’s license for the State of North Carolina and personal vehicle insurance.
  • Must have reliable transportation that will allow movement throughout the program delivery area.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical and Health Record systems
  • Knowledge of virtual platform systems
