Plant Maintenance Technician

    The Department of Water Works is looking for a motivated person looking for a career opportunity to fill a Maintenance Technician position within our water treatment facility.  This position will primarily be working at the water treatment plant and pumping stations conducting indoor and outdoor maintenance.  The successful candidate will need to perform strenuous work, as well as operate various types of power assisted tools, be able to climb and work in high areas, i.e. water tanks, and must be available for after-hours and weekend emergency call out on a rotating basis, as well as occasionally filling in for plant operators doing shift work.

      The ideal candidate will have mechanical capabilities, with experience in diagnosing and repairing plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems. Controls experience is a plus.  Three years of experience in water treatment plant maintenance is highly desired.  Additionally, the ideal candidate must hold or obtain grade WT-5 certification from IDEM by testing or reciprocity.  We will train the right individual.

      Additional minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Indiana Driver’s License.  To be considered, a candidate must consent to driving and criminal background checks, as well a pre-employment physical.
