Chemical/Process Engineer

Exempt position. Develops and oversees the implementation of treatment processes for hazardous and radioactive waste. Applies appropriate treatment methodologies to be utilized at the facility. Supports the engineering for plant control systems and plant instrumentation including modifications and new installations.

• Develops written documents and plans in support of waste treatment at the facility.

• Maintains technical communication between regulatory compliance staff, analytical laboratory staff and facility operations.

• Supports control and instrumentation systems including: Treatment systems and Air Pollution Control, Thermal combustion & indirect systems, and Mechanical (process piping, process instrumentation and controls).

• Order and maintain supplies for waste treatment. Prepare detailed scope and performance specifications per company standards. Prepare and maintain detailed budgets/schedules for process systems/equipment procurement.

• Update and maintain engineering drawings and facility documentation, as required.

• Monitor facility performance of engineered systems/equipment on-line availability and implement upgrades.

• B.S. Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering.

• Work experience in a chemical processing or similar manufacturing or waste treatment plant is a plus.

• Knowledge of EPA RCRA Regulations with emphasis on LDR compliance.

• Strong PC capability in utilizing standard software; Excel, Access or equivalent - as a tool in performing primary duties. Autocad (2.0) basic skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Office environment approximately 60% of day, other 40% working in facility where there is potential for exposure to radiation, noise, dust and hot and cold temperatures. Climbing, walking and lifting will be normal daily requirements.
