Hogsalt is looking for a dedicated and experienced full-time Assistant General Counsel, Labor & Employment to join our team!

With a keen eye for detail, and quality, and excellent organizational and communication skills, the Assistant General Counsel will play a crucial role in all aspects of employment law and compliance as it relates to Hogsalt’s operations. The Assistant General Counsel will also have opportunities to support other legal functions within the company.

Experience & Qualifications:
At least 4 years of experience practicing employment law in a law firm environment; additional in-house experience is a plus.
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
Member in good standing of the Illinois bar; familiarity with New York practices is a plus.
Deep expertise in EEO laws, wage and hour laws, FMLA, pay transparency laws, employee data privacy laws, state and local leave laws, and other federal, state, and local laws affecting employer obligations to employees.
Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to the following):
Report to the General Counsel, and provide legal counsel and guidance to the executive team and management on all labor and employment matters affecting the company.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards across all employment aspects of the company's operations.
Work collaboratively with HR, operations, and finance teams to implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with labor and employment law.
Counsel HR team on employee disciplinary actions and terminations.
Collaborate with the HR team to design and deliver Hogsalt’s internal training programs for restaurant leadership about employment law and practice.
Develop and implement legal strategies to protect the company's interests and minimize legal risks.
Handle and resolve employment practices legal disputes or litigation, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company's operations, and provide proactive advice and recommendations.
Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
Demonstrate solid commercial judgment, including the ability to anticipate, analyze, and make recommendations.
