Job Summary:

Industry leading ASME pressure vessel fabricator and gas process equipment manufacturer is seeking an experienced Division Controller to expand its financial team. This key leadership position is flexible on location and will be responsible for two recently acquired businesses headquartered in Sisters, OR (near Bend, OR) and Indianapolis, IN. Initial focus will be on driving improvements in invoicing processes, identifying synergies / best practices, improving accounting processes, and implementing systems upgrades.

The Division Controller will ensure accounting and finance activities are performed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and are consistent with other company policies and procedures. This position will provide leadership to two business unit Controllers.

This highly visible and impactful role will prepare the successful candidate to have upward career opportunities within Finance and Accounting as well as the ability to pursue advancement opportunities in manufacturing, procurement, and general management organizations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Division Controller performs all duties under the leadership of the Chief Financial Officer with dotted-line reporting to the Group Controller. The position will be responsible for Accounting and Finance for two business units of the company. Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the business unit Controllers in building strong business partnerships with the General Manager and the leadership teams; provide financial insights and decision support.
  • Develop best-in-class Finance and Accounting Team; invest in talent development and engagement.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to increase the accuracy and completeness of actionable financial data, reduce manual work, and shorten the close and reporting processes.
  • Lead accounting system implementation projects, including Financial Reporting and Consolidation software, ADP standardization, and Expense Reporting systems.
  • Hands-on management of the Percentage of Completion (P.O.C.) revenue recognition accounting processes, with emphasis on streamlining and process improvements.
  • Conduct reviews of complex contracts to ensure proper accounting and invoicing requirements.
  • Cash Flow forecasting and management; partner with business to accelerate the Order-to-Cash cycle by streamlining the upstream and downstream invoicing process and improving collections processes.
  • Ensure proper management of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes.
  • Develop reporting and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor business performance.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to expand margins by driving cost reductions and optimizing price.
  • Ensure month-end closing for assigned locations are completed on a timely basis, including accruals, account reconciliations, and financial / management reports.
  • Analyze and bridge forecast to actual financial results to explain performance to Leadership Team and ensure accuracy of month-end close.
  • Coordinate the forecast and annual budget processes.
  • Oversee timely and accurate payroll and ensure compliance with prevailing wage rate requirements.
  • Ensure sales tax and property tax returns are prepared and filed by deadlines.
  • Improve accounting policies and procedures and drive best practices / consistency across businesses.
  • Enhance internal controls over accounting and business processes.
  • In partnership with the Group Controller, ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policy; support external audits (financial, insurance, banking).
  • Ad-hoc projects and analysis / other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

  • 10+ years of accounting/analysis experience preferably in a construction or field service business (or alternately in a manufacturing business).
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with Percentage of Completion (P.O.C.) revenue recognition accounting.
  • Solid understanding of Project Management software or ERP systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting systems and Excel required.
  • Experience in Financial Reporting and Consolidation software strongly preferred.
  • Possess the highest level of integrity and ethics.
  • Dependability, trustworthiness, and ability to work on confidential projects.
  • Strong leadership and Team building skills.
  • Strong coaching/mentoring and organizational development skills.
  • Must have a well-developed and broad business acumen.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting. MBA or CPA preferred.

Travel:

  • Up to 25% travel to other Company locations may be required (dependent on home office location)
