Your day as a Float Teller

As a Full Time Float Teller at Mercantile Bank, you will be responsible for operating a teller window and/or drive-up to ensure seamless and efficient customer transactions. Your dedication to providing excellent customer service will shine as you assist customers with various banking needs. By actively identifying cross-sell opportunities, you will play a pivotal role in promoting our products and services, enhancing the overall customer experience.

Your keen eye for detail and commitment to exceeding customer expectations will allow you to thrive in this dynamic role, making a positive impact on both our customers and the organization.

This position will provide coverage to the Vestaburg, Shepherd, Merrill, St Charles, Ithaca, Lansing, St Johns and Alma markets. This role will be based out of the Alma Northtown office.

Are you the Float Teller we're looking for?

To excel as a Full Time Float Teller at Mercantile Bank, candidates must possess exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling cash transactions. Proficiency in utilizing banking software and tools to efficiently process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and check cashing is essential. Successful candidates will have a strong focus on customer relationship building, demonstrating excellent communication skills and a customer-centric approach.

The ability to identify and seize cross-selling opportunities while meeting or exceeding sales targets is crucial. A solid understanding of banking products and services, as well as the initiative to stay informed about industry trends, is key to providing outstanding service. Additionally, effective teamwork, compliance with regulations and procedures, and a willingness to adapt to evolving job responsibilities are vital for success in this role at Mercantile Bank.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Performs and completes in an efficient and courteous manner the teller servicing of transactions; deposits, withdrawals, payments on loans and check cashing within the established policies and procedures. Maintain a cash drawer and balance the drawer daily.
  • Promotes and enhances customer relations by projecting a positive image of the bank department and self by providing quality service to all customers.
  • Initiates sales actively pursues cross-sell opportunities and assures proper servicing and referrals with the appropriate personnel using Mercantile's Customer Relationship Management System (360 View). Meets or exceeds sales goals.
  • Retains a current and complete knowledge of the Bank's products and services.
  • Answer the telephone and directs customer inquiries to appropriate bank personnel.
  • Works as a team player to assist co-workers and managers in completing daily branch tasks and responsibilities.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations, bank policies, and procedures.
  • Other job functions may be determined and required from time to time.
WORK SCHEDULE

This banking position is scheduled Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, and 2-3 Saturdays a month from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. This position does require travel to support other branches in the area.
