Litigation Associate Attorney

We are a growing, fast-paced, and diverse law practice. The firm concentrates on health care law, estate planning, probate and estate administration, discrimination law, employment law, personal injury, consumer protection, criminal law, family law, debt collection, and general civil litigation.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate must be intelligent, well organized, and possess strong multitasking skills, legal research and writing skills, and a keen attention to detail. This position requires at least 5 years of litigation and trial/courtroom experience. Must be familiar with all aspects of litigation and trial practice ideally having experience on both jury and bench trials. The position requires a strong work ethic and strong written and oral advocacy skills.

• Interviewing witnesses and clients to gather facts and information relevant to cases
• Researching laws, statutes, regulations, and case law to prepare for trial or other court proceedings
• Drafting legal documents such as complaints, motions, briefs, and pleadings in accordance with applicable rules of procedure or evidence
• Preparing depositions and other discovery materials such as subpoenas, interrogatories, requests for admissions, and requests for production of documents
• Drafting settlement agreements based on input from clients and other attorneys
• Preparing legal documents for filing with courts or administrative agencies
• Drafting motions for summary judgment or other post-trial motions to dismiss a case
• Reviewing documents for legal sufficiency and helping draft responses to discovery requests from opposing counsel
• Preparing for and participating in depositions, settlement conferences, and other court proceedings

Required Skills & Experience:

· Admitted to practice law in Massachusetts.

· 5 or more years litigation and trial experience.

· Admission to the Federal District and Appellate Bars are a plus.

· Admission to practice law in Rhode Island or other states would be a plus.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.

· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.

Compensation/Benefits:

Competitive Salary Commensurate with Experience and Discretionary Bonus Compensation. There is the potential for possible additional compensation for persons coming to the firm with existing clients and/or caseloads.
