Job Description

Overview:

The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in assisting with cardiac catheterization procedures, supporting the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart conditions. They work alongside a multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe and effective operation of specialized medical equipment within the catheterization lab.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain catheterization lab equipment.
Assist with cardiac catheterization procedures under the supervision of physicians.
Monitor patients' vital signs and assist with patient positioning during procedures.
Operate imaging equipment to visualize the heart and blood vessels.
Assist in the documentation of procedure details and patient medical records.
Manage inventory and stocking of catheterization lab supplies.
Ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols.
Participate in emergency response and resuscitation efforts as needed.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide quality patient care.
Conduct routine maintenance and quality assurance checks on equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Associate's degree in cardiovascular technology or related field.
Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory setting.
Demonstrated proficiency in operating catheterization lab equipment.
Knowledge of catheterization techniques and cardiac anatomy.
Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Knowledge of radiation safety principles and practices.
Capability to remain calm and focused during emergency situations.
Understanding of sterile technique and infection control practices.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call shifts.
Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift/move heavy equipment.
Active CPR certification and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) credential.
