The CNC programmer has the primary responsibility of operating computer numeric controlled production equipment to produce quality parts. Must be able to program and operate 3-axis mills and lathes with live tooling. The CNC programmer is capable of developing and maintaining accurate and efficient CNC machine code. Responsible for utilizing CAD, CAM, and various other systems to manage a library of tooling, programs, and metal cutting information.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze drawings, blueprints, and design data in order to calculate correct part dimensions for machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
- Create new CNC program, setup instructions, first article inspection review and error resolution, fixture design, modify existing CNC programs
- Make the right cutting tool selections based on work holding device, material type, material removal volume, speeds, feeds, and machine tool limitations
- Develop, write probe logic macros to perform on machine touch probe measuring, work offset updates, cutter offset updates, and part feature data collection
- Setup and operate CNC lathes and mills for the production of parts
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in CNC programming and operation
- Mastercam experience is a plus, but not a must
- Fanuc controller experience is a plus, but not a must
- Proven experience designing fixtures and work holding methods
