Mechanical Designer

Overview

Engineering firm is seeking a Mechanical Designer to work on projects for industrial clients. Will work with closely with our clients daily, under the direction of multiple engineers and project managers. Candidates should have a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in industrial engineering project execution, a strong working knowledge of piping design, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and be fully proficient in the use of 2D and 3D CAD. Requires travel to client site for meetings, field inspections, and startup.

Responsibilities

Designer will work with project engineer to conduct field data collection; will generate construction drawings based on measurements and sketches. On site work conditions include industrial facilities environment including wide temperature range.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-10 years of mechanical design experience.
• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of basic engineering technology and manufacturing techniques.
• Required experience would include the following: mechanical systems design (pumps/piping, fans/duct), piping design, P&IDs, equipment layouts, conveyors, or machine modifications, machine design.
• Must be fully proficient in working in both 2D and 3D drawings.
• Solid Works and AutoCAD Inventor required.
• Must have the ability to actively contribute to the design process and assist in problem solving within a teamwork setting.

Essential Functions

• Must be able to climb ladders, stairways, and access equipment.
• Must be able to climb caged personnel ladder.
• Must be capable of walking the distance from parking lot to designated job area (may be 1 mile+), in addition to walking throughout a large manufacturing plant during course of day for required meetings and other required duties.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check and motor vehicle report (MVR) according to company and client policies.
