Job Title: Solvent Lab Technician | Reports to: Solvent Lab Manager | Location: Homestead, FL 33030

The Solvent Lab Technician is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the safe handling, preparation, and analysis of solvents, with a focus on ethanol and butane. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety protocols and assisting in laboratory operations.

Job Description:

  • Solvent Handling:

  • Safely handle, store, and dispense solvents, including ethanol and butane, following established safety procedures.

  • Monitor and maintain solvent inventory levels and report any discrepancies.

  • Sample Preparation:

  • Prepare solvent samples for analysis, ensuring accuracy and adherence to laboratory protocols.

  • Dilute, mix, and label solvent samples as required for testing.

  • Laboratory Equipment:

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as distillation units, spectrometers, and chromatographs.

  • Perform routine equipment calibration and maintenance tasks.

  • Quality Control:

  • Assist in quality control measures to ensure the integrity and purity of solvents.

  • Conduct routine tests and inspections on solvent samples and report any deviations.

  • Safety Compliance:

  • Follow strict safety protocols and adhere to environmental regulations when working with solvents.

  • Report any safety incidents, near misses, or equipment malfunctions promptly.

  • Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of solvent handling, preparation, and test results.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation for laboratory procedures.

  • Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, researchers, and scientists to support experiments and projects involving solvents.

  • Communicate effectively within the team and assist with data collection and analysis.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or coursework in chemistry or a related field is a plus.

  • Prior experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably with solvents like ethanol and butane.

  • Basic understanding of laboratory equipment operation and maintenance.
