Principal Advisor - Tails & Water

POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for (including but not limited to) the oversight of all Tailings & Water facilities (RTFE). Supports the business by overseeing the governance responsibilities of TSF construction including new GISTM framework and requirements. Responsible for quality control of design construction of the Tailings Facilities, Ensures safe work plans are in place for tailings management, striving and supporting efforts to improve FOS. Acts as the point of contact for the facilities Engineer of Record and engages other support (engineering design, projects, instrumentation installation, etc.) as needed. The Principal Advisor is the area owner and works closely with the Tailings & Water Engineering Superintendent with following the company’s internal standards for tailings & water operations and ensuring compliance with the Aquifer Protection Permit and other related permits. Acts as an advisor on future tailings facility design, future water needs and supports the overall strategy and plans for the department and provides expertise in TSF construction.

PEOPLE REPORTING TO THIS POSITION
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees the implementation of Capstone’s Tailings Management System
- MAC, CDA, GISTM and other applicable industry and global standards understanding. Review site compliance and develop a plan to meet applicable standards. Report on status.
- Ensure all employees, vendors and contractors are working in compliance with all Pinto Valley Mine safe work procedures and Life Saving Rules.
- Ensure that all employees and contractors are certified to execute the tasks/jobs they are assigned.
- Engaged in planning and scheduling activities using relevant regulations, laws, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and safety standards are met.
- Partner and guide the Tailings & Water Engineering Supt, Tailings & Water Operation Supt Project Managers, and Environmental Supt. to ensure engineering design criteria compliance, and safe operation of the tailings storage facilities.
- Engaged in planning of work according to TSF construction strategies, using survey and design tools.
- Provide input into permitting-related activities.
- Advise on external guidance for tailings in collaboration with the Director, Technical Services to ensure best available technologies are considered for use at PV

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
- Detailed knowledge of TSF construction, preferably in a mining environment (with Facilities, Concentrator, SXEW, Tailings, etc. equipment).
- Detailed knowledge of theories, governance, and best practices of maintenance / facilities planning and scheduling.
Key Competencies / Skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Minimum of ten years as a professional guiding and influencing practice in facilities/maintenance planning areas.
- Minimum of 10 years in tailings construction, RTFE, regulatory role, or design.
- Proven ability to operate independently and in small multi-discipline teams, demonstrated leadership skills, and be self-motivated.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management skills required.
- Intermediate to Proficient computer skills, spreadsheets (Microsoft Office, CAD 3D,Microsoft Outlook).
- Bachelor degree or higher education in engineering, geotechnical, or related field of study.
- SAP experience (familiarity with SAP planning module, Asset Management a plus).
- Able to speak, comprehend, read, and write English.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- 80% time will be spent working on governance compliance, strategies, plans, reporting and schedules; with the remaining 20% spent in the field.
