Rooftop Specialist

SUMMARY: Oversee and maintain City Hall Rooftop Garden. Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in rooftop maintenance activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Directs activities of workers who perform duties such as weeding, trash removal, plant installation and pruning.
• Monitor rooftop irrigation system.
• Track plant growth and record bloom times.
• Record daily rainfall/precipitation.
• Complete daily CDOT and Supervisor reports.
• Monitor project activities to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules are maintained.
• Manage inventory of tools, equipment, or materials to ensure that sufficient supplies are available.
• Ensure all equipment is maintained and in usable condition.
• Train, motivate, develop, and direct team as they work.
• Evaluate each team member to provide career development feedback.
• Monitor/assess performance of others and/or organization to make improvements or take corrective action.
• Transport crew members to different job sites in assigned vehicles.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid State of Illinois drivers’ license.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in landscaping.
• Basic knowledge of native plant identification.
• Ability to work independently.
• Computer skills required: Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook).
