SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Night Auditor will be responsible for supervising night accounting and general hotel operations to ensure the maintenance of financial controls, compliance with standards and regulations, customer satisfaction, and protection of the guests, staff, and assets. Accurately balance all hotel income for a 24-hour operating period.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Regular attendance is required in compliance with Beatrice standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes proper dress and a correct nametag when working.
  • Always comply with Beatrice standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Reads daily reports: therefore, is adequately informed with all daily happenings at the hotel.
  • Operate in an alert manner always being aware of the surroundings and activity through the hotel. 
  • Responsible for the safety of our guests & building, utilizing security team as needed.  
  • Create and distribute daily flash, reporting the daily revenues.
  • Balance and audit all monies for accuracy ensuring all charges are properly posted & payments are settled. (rate check, cashier’s reports, gift card sales, restaurant room charges, and guest and house accounts.)
  • Audit and post valet parking charges.
  • Complete nightly audit-date roll at schedule time.
  • Communicate with other hotel departments as necessary to resolve accounting discrepancies and to request or provide information.
  • Be attentive to the upkeep, appearance, and cleanliness of the lobby and public spaces. Tend to them as needed. 
  • Perform all Guest Service Agent functions as required; assist in booking room reservations; in answering hotel phone calls and notifying guests of messages; facilitate proper security of department keys.
  • Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner.  Follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Acting as manager on duty, handle all incoming complaints and issues with a sense of calmness and focus on resolving the situation. 
  • Organize the front office and double check lobby area cleanliness by 6 a.m.
  • Have thorough knowledge of outside venues and directions to each.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Attend meetings/training as required by management.
  • Maintain and understand special guest- VIP programs. 
  • Collaborate with restaurant operator to create a seamless guest experience between both entities. 

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate preferred and/or equivalent work experience.
  • At least one-year guest service experience in hospitality environment or equivalent experience required.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems to include Outlook, Microsoft products and other industry related systems.
  • Previous experience in night audit or accounting roles desired. 
  • Previous experience working8 hours on the 3rd shift (overnight hours). 

Physical Demands:

  • Rotating schedules including nights and weekends.
  • Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasional and/or 10 pounds frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand for full duration of the shift. 

Required Competencies

  • Must be able to work with alone with little or no supervision during the 3rd shift. 
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must be able to work well in stressful, high-pressure, and fast paced situations including the ability to handle guest complaints and disputes and resolve them to satisfactory results.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from various sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the need.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic function.
