SUMMARY:
Ortho Sport and Spine Physicians is a rapidly expanding orthopedic practice, with 47 clinics in 20 states across the U.S. Additionally, there is an ambulatory surgery center in Atlanta. The practice specializes in providing state-of-the-art, minimally invasive treatment of complex neck and spine problems, as well as sports related injuries and conditions.
The Scrub Tech position is responsible for a variety of activities associated with surgical procedures.

The practice specializes in providing state-of-the-art, minimally invasive treatment of complex neck and spine problems, as well as sports related injuries and conditions.
The Scrub Tech position is responsible for a variety of activities associated with surgical procedures.
DUTIES:
- You will assist before during and after surgical procedures - providing retraction, manipulation of tissues, homeostasis and other functions to ensure good visualization of the surgical field and optimal results for the patient.
- Assist the rest of the surgical team in scrubbing in for surgery.
- Prepare the operating room by maintaining sterile procedure to set out instruments and set up other surgical equipment.
- Be able to move quickly and remain organized during complicated procedures.
- Understand the importance of time-outs and other safety checks.
- Use critical thinking skills to determine potential surgical complications and the appropriate next steps to take.
- Know when and how to perform proper surgical instrument and sponge counts to ensure patient safety.
- Collaborate with the surgical team and promote teamwork to ensure patient safety
- You may assist in the preparation of patients, positioning and the application of casts, immobilizers or tourniquets.
- You may assist the RN in technical functions related to patient care in the OR.
- Must possess a working knowledge of operating room fundamentals, including aseptic principles and techniques.
- Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team.
- Adapts quickly and easily to change and adjusted behavior and approach to work when necessary to achieve goals.
- Perform scrub functions(If needed)
- Secure and prepare all supplies required for surgical intervention.
- Ensure the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in OR
- Prepare patient skin for surgical treatment.
- Position and re-position patient during surgery
- Help monitor patients during surgery.
- Collect and label specimens taken during surgical procedures.
- Follow all federal, state and departmental safety procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate or higher degree preferred.
- Certified Surgical Technologist
- Ortho and Spinal Experience
