MISSION

The mission of The PATH School is to provide a purpose-driven, culturally responsive learning environment that challenges scholars academically while supporting their social and emotional growth in order to develop conscientious citizens who transform their communities.

Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree preferred in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or Human Services.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a practitioner
  • Working knowledge of federal and state student services laws, rules, and practices.
  • Broad knowledge of Indiana student services policies, practices and programs.
  • A track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with and among diverse groups.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Close attention to detail coupled with the ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, able to anticipate conflicts before they arise.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Ability to execute meetings, calls and emails with professionalism, courtesy and accuracy.
  • Personal qualities of maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and diligence.
  • Ability to effectively allocate and prioritize time to several tasks to ensure completion.
  • Punctuality, ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • A deep passion for social justice and equity for all children; a strong belief that all scholars can and will achieve at the highest levels regardless of demography.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an environment with an above average level of noise
  • Some nights and weekends, as required


Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of student learning and effective teaching strategies
  • Attend school-wide events, such as open houses, family conferences, and other events involving families
  • Reports to the Head of School.
  • Serves as the social and emotional counselor on the PATH team.
  • Ensures scholars' physiological, psychological and social and emotional needs are being met.
  • Ensures awareness of community support in order to meet physiological, physiological and safety needs.
  • Conducts individual counseling sessions.
  • Conducts group counseling sessions.
  • create academic lessons more personal and relatable to students
  • Leads social and emotional classroom lessons.
  • Serves as a culture specialist for The PATH School.
  • Ensures classroom culture meets the expectations of The PATH School.
  • Ensures schoolwide culture meets the expectations of The PATH School.
  • Supports school discipline practices by leading restorative conversations.
  • Supports school discipline practices by supervising student support spaces.
  • Serves on student support teams and special education committees.
  • Reviews student records to identify previous barriers and/or interventions.
  • Conducts parent interviews to acquire and provide socio-developmental information as needed.
  • Analyzes information gained through record reviews and interviews to determine
    environmental impacts and appropriate resource needs; documents information gained.
  • Interviews students and parents to discuss issues related to non-attendance and develops an action plan.
  • Assists the school in following regulations for excessive absences and truancy; attends student support team meetings and court intervention.
  • Develops and implements professional development training for educational staff and parents, as requested.
  • Provides individual and/or group/family counseling.
  • Responds to referrals requesting verification of residence.
  • Participates in professional development activities aimed at current trends and best practices for the provision of comprehensive school social work services.
  • Conducts home visits as a method to access the family and conduct interviews in response to school referrals.
  • Maintains an ongoing liaison with community agencies and other resources to meet scholar needs; refers parents and scholars to agencies when appropriate.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Some evenings required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
