Job Description

Position: Golf Maintenance Specialist (Full-Time, Non-Exempt) at Meadows Golf Club

Hiring Salary Range: $48,020-$59,495

Full Salary Range: $48,020-$64,969

Under the supervision of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, this position is responsible for grounds maintenance duties including maintaining greens, tees, fairways, landscaped areas and performing routine maintenance. The job may require shifts ranging from morning to evening hours, weekends and holidays.

Job Duties:

  • Perform daily golf course maintenance activities including: daily course and range set up, mowing and rolling of greens, tees, fairways, and roughs.
  • Perform specialized maintenance activities including: aeration, vertical mowing, topdressing, and overseeding of greens, tees, fairways, roughs.
  • Bunker maintenance including daily raking, mowing, edging, and sand replacement.
  • Maintain landscaped areas including: trees, flowerbeds, native areas, fencing.
  • Check for disease and damage by inspecting the greens, tees, fairways etc. daily and takes appropriate actions.
  • Controls disease and turf upkeep through the proper application of fertilizers, growth regulators, fungicides, pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides per product labeling as directed.
  • Perform a variety of general grounds keeping duties including raking, weeding, trimming trees, fertilizing, transplanting trees and shrubs and pruning trees, and shrubs
  • Maintains the irrigation system by performing system analysis, repairs, adjustments and installations as required.
  • Train and provide work direction to assigned seasonal and part-time personnel.
  • Perform minor and preventative maintenance and repair work on equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain records of work performed including preventative maintenance and needed repairs.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of grounds maintenance equipment and tools including tractor, truck, backhoe, overseeder, rototiller, aerator, sod cutter, jack hammer, fork lift, clipper, small hand and power tools.
  • Clean and perform routine maintenance on grounds maintenance equipment and tools as well as daily maintenance center organization.
  • Maintain records of work performed including preventive maintenance and needed repairs.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and orientations.
  • Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Correct or inform supervisor of any hazards; communicate issues/complaints to supervisor as needed.
  • Assist other departments with District events as needed.
  • Attend work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis.


Working Environment:
95% or more of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and requires the ability to drive to park and building locations. May be exposed to extreme cold, heat, wet, snow, humid or icy conditions. Frequent exposure to noise, fumes, dusts, mists, gases, grasses, molds, fertilizers, solvents, oils, and greases. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.



  • Graduation from high school or completion of GED. Associate's Degree in Turfgrass or Horticultural preferred.
  • Three (3) years labor experience in golf or landscape maintenance, horticulture, forestry or a closely related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years experience operating commercial landscape equipment.
  • One (1) year experience as a crew leader preferred.
  • Pesticide Applicators certification in the general, turf and ornamental categories within the first year of employment is preferred, or ability to obtain
  • Requires extensive knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment involved in the development and maintenance of landscaped areas and turf practices and golf course set up.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate a variety of power, hand tools, and landscape maintenance heavy equipment such as, mowers, backhoes, aerators, etc.
  • Requires knowledge of the chemical and cultural controls for disease, including certification for and the proper usage of agrochemicals, fertilizers, and other soil additives and insects and rodents. Requires knowledge of the operation of irrigation systems.
  • Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, lift and exhibit manual dexterity with the ability to handle objects. Must be able to occasionally push, pull or balance. Upper body strength is a requisite to lift /move a maximum of 50 pounds unassisted and lift /move a maximum of 100 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include near acuity, far acuity, and depth perception and color vision. The position requires the sense of smell and feeling. Requires the ability to communicate both orally and in writing and execute oral and written instructions with understanding. Must have the ability to talk and hear via the telephone and through face-to-face communication.
