Laborer

Summary: Performs various manual tasks in maintaining and repairing city streets, roads, rights-of-ways and other public areas.

Work Hours: This position will be expected to work a schedule established by the Department Head. Typical hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. It is also expected this position will work other hours including nights, weekends and/or holidays as necessary or requested in order to fulfill the City's vision and/or to accomplish departmental goals. Mandatory overtime may be required during certain occasions including, but not limited to times of snow/ice removal.

Essential Duties: Include, but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Rakes, sweeps and/or shovels rock, gravel, dirt, stone, sand, blacktop and other materials and supplies.

Digs ditches and/or trenches and lays/installs storm lines.

Assists with road closures, traffic diversion and flagging.

Pours and/or finishes concrete and/or blacktop.

Installs, maintains and/or repairs guardrails.

Assists with storm cleanup including removing and discarding trees, limbs and other materials and debris.

Assists with snow and ice removal as necessary and requested.

Assists with special events including setup, removal and clean-up as necessary and requested.

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED. Previous experience performing similar duties desired
