The SOC Operator will be responsible for monitoring physical security systems, detecting, and assessing risks, and reporting occurrences, while determining their impact on business operations, employees, and facilities. The individual will ensure a secure and professional atmosphere through vigilance and confidentiality.


Essential Duties:

The SOC Operator will be required to perform a full range of skills and services, including but not limited to:

  • Administer access control systems, monitor visitor registration, and issue visitor access credentials as required.
  • Serve as the liaison between all departments and the security department.
  • Maintain a high level of situational awareness, respond to security alarms or incidents promptly, and report any suspicious activities or breaches in security.
  • Evaluate, categorize, format, and document all information and actions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support daily security operations of the organization.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Monitor security systems and respond to alerts and incidents in a timely manner.
  • Operate, program, and control automated access control, IP-based video surveillance systems, fire detection and alarm, mobile radio, telecommunications, and other public safety systems used to support operational processes according to defined Standards.
  • Recognize crises and initiate coordinated operational response activities to incidents and emergencies using sound judgment.
  • Answer emergency and non-emergency telephone lines, and process and transmit requests for service according to defined SOPs.
  • Develop draft reports, alerts, warnings, and notifications for submission to leadership.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Advanced Technical Skills: Familiarity with advanced security systems and software, including video surveillance and access control systems.
  • Ability to create and provide oversight for rule creation to generate actionable security alerts, meet audit requirements, conduct incident response investigations, and manage visibility into threats.
  • Excellent analytical skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Military or law enforcement experience is strongly preferred.
  • Security Training/Certification: Existing firearm certifications, including Level 3 and/or Level 4 Texas DPS, are highly desirable.

Job Requirements:

  • Candidates must be prepared to undergo a comprehensive background check.
  • Availability to work during regular business hours, as well as weekends or after-hours shifts.
  • Must have a First Aid/CPR/AED for all ages certification (MP Materials can provide the training).
  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluently read, speak, and write the English language.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver license with time dependable mode of transportation.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Candidates must pass companies background checks, drug testing, and behavioral selection surveys.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, College Degree preferred.

  • Veterans with honorable discharge, yes.


Physical Requirements:

In general, the following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a SOC Operator to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to allow for certain ADA requirements.

  • Must be able to see, hear, speak, and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and/or other customers.
  • The employee is required to hear conversations in noisy environments.
  • Ability to twist, turn, bend, stand, climb stairs, and walk as required to perform the duties associated with functioning as a SOC Operator.
  • Ability to squat, kneel, and crawl as needed.
  • Occasional pushing/pulling/carrying/lifting of objects; may be up to 50 lbs. and include climbing stairs.
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use hands to handle, hold or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with arms, and talk or hear.
  • Normal vision or corrected by use of glasses and/or contacts for normal reading and viewing abilities. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May occasionally be required to work outdoors in inclement weather.
  • May be required in some positions to have sufficient dexterity, mobility, physical ability and stamina, to restrain individuals in accordance with established guidelines, and sufficient mobility to respond to clients’ needs.
  • May experience frequent to occasional confrontational situations.
