Position: Quality Manager - Automotive

Reports To: Operations Manager

Compensations: Negotiable - Dependent on Experience
Location: Warren, MI

 

Position Summary:

The Quality Manager has authority over and responsibility for all personnel in the Quality Department in keeping with all Company policy and procedure.

 

Your role will be pivotal in maintaining and improving the overall quality management system, with a strong emphasis on IATF 16949 certification compliance. The successful candidate will play a key part in our commitment to delivering superior quality products in the automotive sector.

 

Further, the Quality Manager is authorized to stop any process where the output of that process does not meet all customer specifications, provided the Quality Manager notifies the Operations Manager of the shutdown and proactively participates in solving the problem(s) that resulted in such shutdown, and carries that solution as preventive action through surrogate processes within the organization.

Essential Duties:

In keeping with the organization’s policies and procedures, along with all necessary legislative authority, the Quality Manager will:

  • Be responsible and accountable for assuring the integrity of outputs in accordance with all Quality measures.
  • Coordinate, delegate and ensure timely and cost-effective completion of all activities in Quality Assurance Department through the organization.
  • Investigate and report all instances of non-conformance.
  • Develop a prioritized reduction plan with an objective toward eliminating any recurrence of non-conformance and reducing the overall cost of quality.
  • Ensure adherence to IATF 16949 standards by overseeing internal and external audits, implementing corrective actions, and managing continuous improvement processes in quality management systems.
  • Develop, monitor, and provide timely closure to Action Plans, ensuring projects and assignments adhere to planned timelines and fiscal responsibility.
  • Take corrective actions regarding personnel issues where required through the Company’s policy and procedure for progressive discipline.
  • Evaluate the performance of personnel within the Quality Department with the Operations Manager and Human Resources Department to make timely recommendation regarding proactive or remedial training.
  • Receive and forward to the leader of the necessary cross-functional team, all customer concerns and complaints in keeping with the Company’s policy and procedure for Corrective and Preventive Action.
  • React and respond to all customer concerns and complaints in the appropriate format in keeping with the Company’s policy and procedure for Corrective and Preventive Action.
  • Maintain the Concern Analysis Report Log and monitor all Concern Analysis Reports for timely completion.
  • Gather and compile data, submit weekly reports, and complete any corrective action required for the applicable QOS Measurable.
  • Participate as a team member in any required Process Improvement initiatives.
  • Participate as a team member in the Advanced Product Quality Planning and continual improvement processes.
  • Attend meetings and provide proactive input toward the resolution of open issues, the continual improvement of the Quality Department and the Organization.

Education and/or Experience:

The Quality Assurance Manager must have at least three (3) years of management or supervisory experience.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in Quality Assurance both in an automotive component manufacturing environment (preferably in a multi-facility operation) along with a wide range of computerized Quality Assurance monitoring software applications.
  • IATF knowledge and implementation with Internal Auditing certification.
  • Experience with LPA audits with ability to lead corrective actions.
  • Capable of CMM operation, report generation, analysis and presentation.
  • Quality software use and knowledge of AIAG Core tools, Datalyzer SPC software, CAD software, PC-DMIS, DataPage+, LPA Admin and Gage Pack.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and good judgement / analytical skills, combined with strong leadership skills.
  • Able communicate professionally, verbally and in writing with team members and customers.
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
