Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Accounting and Finance Manager plans and directs the accounting, finance, bookkeeping, and related business systems functions supporting company operations and financial reporting. The Accounting and Finance Manager acts in a supervisory as well as a functional role, overseeing and contributing to regular operations, as well as continually seeking faster, more cost efficient, and more accurate methods for department functions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Manages the Accounting and Finance staff responsible for corporate and project-level accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, expenses, assets and inventory accounting, and related company functions.
· Maintains current accounting, finance, and business systems and processes.
· Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
· Prepares regular financial statements and reports, including quarterly and yearly reports, for use by management and company auditors.
· Manages banking and investment accounts, and interfaces with company banking, surety, and other related institutions.
Accounting
· Prepares business activity reports, financial forecasts, and quarterly and annual budgets.
· Prepares periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or financial reporting standards.
· Coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
· Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
· Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on financial forecasts, cash management, KPIs, and other ad hoc analyses.
· Works with operations and project management staff to manage project-level budgets, billing, and payments.
· Ensures payments and billings follow internal controls and comply with any contractually mandated requirements (e.g., lien waivers).
· Maintains systems preserving document management and integrity, as well as back up documentation for annual financial audits.
· Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Required Skills and Education
· Knowledge of large-scale Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts
· Excellent management and supervisory skills.
· Advanced knowledge working with Microsoft Office Suite and Oracle NetSuite a must.
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
