Geotechnical Field Project Coordinator

TTL, Inc. has a need for a full-time, geotechnical field project coordinator to be based in its Tuscaloosa, Alabama office and working on projects throughout Alabama. This full-time position provides technical field support for geotechnical engineering projects for both private and public sectors. This person must have a good safety record and be able to communicate effectively with other team members and clients. Primary responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

• Coordinate field exploration activities
• Locate and stake boring locations at various sites around Alabama and Mississippi
• Notify utility locators of proposed drilling locations
• Collecting soil samples
• Preparing field boring logs
• Conduct field testing on collected soil samples and record pertinent drilling information
• Conduct field electrical earth resistivity testing
• Ensure general safety of drilling crew
• Participate in safety meetings
• Data entry of field borings log information to prepare final boring logs
• Assist engineering staff with various technical tasks related to meeting project objectives

Requirements

• Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
• H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Must be able to work in all types of weather and field conditions
• Must be able to work outside typical daily 8 am to 5 pm hours
• Must be able to travel for extended periods of time
• Must have basic computer skills for time, expense and field data entry
• Must be able to communicate effectively with fellow employees and drillers
• Must be able to read plans and maps
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Knowledge of geology a plus
