Job Description

Job Description: Arcadia University invites applications for a one-year, full time, Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences, beginning August 2024. Primary duties entail teaching introductory chemistry lectures and laboratories, and one or more of the following: biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, or instrumental analysis, depending on qualifications.

We anticipate running a tenure-track search for this position in the Fall of 2024 for a start date of Fall 2025. The successful candidate for the Visiting Assistant Professor position would be eligible to apply.

Location: Glenside

Responsibilities:

  • Primary duties entail teaching introductory chemistry lectures and laboratories and one or more of the following: biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, or instrumental analysis, depending on qualifications. Serve on university committees as requested or designated.

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree (MS, PhD) in chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related field, is required. Teaching experience at the postsecondary level is preferred, with an emphasis on engaged learning inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff members,
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills at both the conceptual and fine detail levels,
  • Adept interpersonal and communication skills within and beyond the program,
  • Skillful problem-solving capabilities with people, programs, and logistics,
  • An ability to work effectively in a team environment within the program, its affiliates, the College of Arts and Sciences, and Arcadia University
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and knowledge about diversity, equity, and inclusion and embrace opportunities for continued growth in cultural competence is expected.
