Opportunity
The General Building Maintenance (Janitor) is an integral part of the Muncie team. The primary purpose of the Building Maintenance (Janitor) position is to be responsible for performing routine building maintenance, grounds maintenance and janitorial activities, while producing high quality, detailed work based upon the established standards, guidelines, and procedures of Muncie Power.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Provides excellent customer service and collaboration with internal and external customers
- Performs and documents routine inspection and maintenance activities as needed
- Promotes safety awareness, enforces appropriate company polices, and assures all policies and procedures are adhered to daily
- Efficiently operates heavy equipment such as: forklift, man-lift, floor scrubber, sweeper, and sump pump
- Ensures machines and equipment maintained effectively and in good working order
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and machines to effectively keep in good working order
- Ensures facilities are in proper working order, including changing filters with heating and cooling systems, minor plumbing, plant air, lighting, painting, general carpentry, etc.
- Maintains and performs cleaning duties with shop floor, restrooms, break rooms, first aid area, and offices
- Performs ground maintenance as needed
- Monitors and maintains the restock of needed supplies and cleaning materials
- Utilizes a variety of hand tools, maintenance tools and cleaning supplies daily
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Language: English
- Ability to learn and maintain company policies, procedures, and routines
- Ability to demonstrate a basic level of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), and be willing and able to learn other company software programs as needed.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions
- Must be able to lift heavy objects on a as needed basis
- Facility maintenance experience or janitorial experience with a good mechanical aptitude
- Must be flexible to perform a variety of assignments and adapt to changing conditions
- Demonstrates excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both orally and in writing
- Willing and able to obtain and maintain a forklift license
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year experience in Building Maintenance (Janitorial) experience
- Previous mechanical, electrical, or janitorial experience
