Summary: To provide technical support and expertise to St. Marys Cement sales representatives and clients for the promotion and sale of concrete products. Additionally, this position will support our sustainability initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Serve as role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, customer focus, continuous improvement, safety, and environmental stewardship to ensure alignment with the company's vision and critical success.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers with cement and concrete related problems.
  • Assist customers with quality control parameters (i.e. mix design enhancements).
  • Promote and protect cement and concrete products through high profile participation in industry association and specification committees as well as other related organizations.
  • Take a leadership role in targeting internal cement quality improvements pertaining to customer needs.
  • Manage special projects related to technical aspects of product development in assistance of marketing efforts.
  • Manage technical activities for specific territories.
  • Oversee cement interests in regional concrete quality lab including budgetary development and
  • Act as a mentor and provide training and support to other organizational personnel.
  • Assist Sales in promotion of new and regular SMC products with engineering advice and technical sales presentations and related efforts.
  • Perform investigation of customer technical complaints regarding quality, tolerances, specifications, and delivered condition of cement products. Assist in negotiating settlement of claims, for which company is responsible, within limits prescribed by management.
  • Continue to maintain LEED qualifications to support VCNA customers and employees.
  • Support sales toward the implementation of products that will enhance the companies position in terms of sustainability.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering - Civil or Chemical Engineering is preferred.

Ability to become a Professional Engineer (P.E.). The balance of education and work experience will be considered while determining potential candidates.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, standard test methods, material specifications and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group's clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane, solid geometry, trigonometry and solve a family of equations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to perform fundamental population and sample statistics, regression analysis and multi-regression analyses for the purposes of cause/effect

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to work within groups and teams is essential.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database, Excel as well as Word Processing and Presentation software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

ACI Certification, Valid Driver's License.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Strong interpersonal skills are essential. Technical knowledge of cement/concrete/masonry industries is an asset.

Other Qualifications:

Considerable travel (40-60% of time) can occur to carry out sales support and customer servicing roles.
