Job Description

The Center for the Study of Services (CSS)/Consumers' Checkbook team is looking for a Web Developer to join our team in Washington, D.C. The Web Developer is responsible for building modern cloud-based full-stack web apps to tell stories with data and communicating with consumers to make the right decisions.

The Web Developer will report to the VP of IT. This position will work closely with various staff across the organization. This position will be on a hybrid schedule, meaning the candidate will be required to work in office 3 days per week with the option to work from home up to 2 days per week. Equipment will be provided.

CSS is an established nonprofit research organization based in Washington, DC with over 70 full time staff. Through our brand Checkbook, CSS provides information directly to consumers to help them find services and make important decisions about their healthcare. CSS also conducts surveys of consumers and health care providers on behalf of government agencies, national health plans, health coalitions, and medical groups. CSS is a tight knit and growing organization that prioritizes a positive work environment and rewards hard work and results.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with C#, SQL, HTML5, JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS/SASS, XML, JSON, REST API, Responsive Layout.
  • Familiarity with frameworks, such as .NET, Angular, Vue, React, jQuery, Bootstrap, Foundation or equivalent.
  • Well-versed with version control tools (e.g. Git), and package managers such as NuGet, Maven and NPM.
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and on a team.
  • Familiarity with unit, integration, and load testing.
  • Experience with Azure and Azure DevOps (preferred).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Initiative to have a successful execution of multiple projects.
