Position Summary: The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing large and complex projects and project teams that span across multiple business units. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading all phases of assigned projects including: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining project plans and other project management tools to manage projects and provide updates on project status to the ILS Leadership team. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining ILS project management templates, tools, and developing policies and procedures related to project management activities for the project management teams. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for assisting in the creation of an ILS project governance structure and process as well as assisting with supporting/presenting at monthly operational meetings.

Essential Functions:

  1. For each project assigned, define project phases, work with business leads to develop project schedules, timelines, and other project management tools.
  2. Assign tasks to team members and hold teams and team members accountable for meeting project deadlines and goals.
  3. Develop and manage risk, action, issue, and decision (RAID) logs for projects and identify and escalate, to the Director of Project Management and other ILS senior leadership members, potential project risks and schedule slippage.
  4. Schedule and lead /facilitate project team meetings and document risks, actions, issues, and decisions in RAID log.
  5. Develop and present project materials including presentations, written overviews, project schedule summaries, dashboards, etc. to provide updates on project status.
  6. Develop and maintain project management templates, tools, and methodologies for all ILS project managers to use.
  7. Assist with developing a structure, charter, and supporting/facilitating a bi-weekly Project Governance meeting that includes business leads and other project managers.
  8. Mentor, as assigned by the Director of Project Management, other project managers within ILS.
  9. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar project manager certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Five years of experience with managing projects, process improvement, and similar tasks.
  • Ten years’ experience working in a professional setting and preferably in a managed care/ health care environment.
