Catholic Charities is seeking candidates for the position of a Clinical Social Worker/Assessor to work in our Pregnancy, Parenting and Adoptions program to assist with a new grant we have received from the State of Tennessee to work with pregnant women and families with children under 24 months old. This is a four day a week position with benefits and based in Davidson County. Agency hours are Monday through Friday, between 8:00am to 4:30pm. Office location is 2806 McGavock Pike in the Opryland area of Nashville.

Primary responsibilities for this Clinical Social Worker/Assessor position have a dual responsibility of providing counseling to our pregnant mothers and young families as well as completing assessments to ensure appropriate resources and referrals are made to stabilize or improve family conditions. Counseling services will also include group activities designed to enhance personal growth and development; through evidence-informed best-practices and within agency guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides assessment and counseling (pregnant women, young families, and support groups) services to pregnant women and young families to reduce maternal health issues and increase healthy family development through a variety of supportive direct and basic needs resources. Counseling and assessment tools used will be according to evidence-informed best-practices and within agency guidelines.
  • Maintains complete and timely counseling notes and other required documentation required by the grant (assessments, progress notes, reviews of treatment planning, quarterly reports, service plans, closing summaries, etc.) according to Agency guidelines, using the database provided by the agency and within Agency time frame.
  • Screens and assesses requests for counseling services to determine appropriateness for agency’s services making internal referrals well as referrals to other agencies or qualified individuals when indicated according to agency guidelines.
  • Ability to work from other satellite offices and perform community field work if necessary.
  • Some experience and understanding of trauma and Trauma Informed Care practices.
  • Actively seeks professional development to increase professional knowledge with an emphasis around current evidence-based best practices.
  • Actively participates in supervision sessions, periodic team meetings, and training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field.
  • Must have knowledge of human behavior and child development and the ability to use various methods and techniques of counseling with pregnant women, children, adults, couples, and families.
  • Possess or working toward license in Social Work or related field from the State of Tennessee (e.g. LCSW, LMFT, MMFT, LMSW, LPC-MHSP) is strongly preferred.


Other Skills or Requirements:

  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable meeting with clients in community settings ie schools/homes.
  • Good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products, with ability to learn new technology as needed.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact in dealing with the public and staff.
  • Ability to plan and organize work and follow tasks through to completion.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and other agency requirements.
  • Ability, interest, and willingness to work with diverse staff and clients.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with extreme professionalism.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to maintain a flexible working schedule to accommodate afternoons and some evenings.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
